Georgia is located at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, in the Caucasus and is distinguished by its ancient historical heritage, exceptional nature, unique culture and hospitality. The west of Georgia is bordered by the Black Sea, in the north by the Russian Federation, in the south-east by Azerbaijan, in the south by Armenia and Turkey. The country is rich in mineral and thermal springs, various types of climatic and recreational zones, landscapes, karst caves, healing mud and many other interesting sights. Georgia offers tourists Black Sea coast resorts, national parks, Caucasus ridges, mineral waters and delicious cuisine. There are many UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Georgia.
Historical records about Georgia date back more than 4,000 years, and the Georgian alphabet is one of the world's unique alphabets. Georgia is one of the first countries where Christianity was declared a state religion in the first half of the fourth century.
Georgia has made significant progress lately. The country has begun implementing fundamental reforms in areas such as the public sector, election administration, justice and local self-government.
In 2014 Georgia signed the Association Agreement with the European Union. In 2017, following the successful implementation of Georgia's Visa Liberalization Action Plan, visa-free travel with EU countries was launched.
According to the popular travel site See.place, Georgia ranks 8th among the 10 safest countries in the world, following Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Malta and Luxembourg.
