Abastumani

Abastumani is one of the most famous mountain resorts in the country. This beautiful Georgian resort is located in one of the evergreen valleys of Adjara-Imereti Pass. It is located south of Meskheti Range and east of Fersati Mountain at an altitude of 1275-1340 meters above sea level. Abastumani is 260 km from Tbilisi. At the resort Abastumani is the extreme western entrance and checkpoint of the Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park. Zekari Pass is also within the Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park. Here is the famous observatory. Abastumani belongs to the number of moderately dry resorts. Almost vertically raised slopes of the valley are covered by coniferous forests dominated by pine, which is an involuntary healing remedy for a person with lung disease. The healing properties of Abastumani thermal waters are also widely accepted.

Due to the thermal waters of Abastumani it is considered as a climate-balneological resort.

Local mountain climate - this is pure air, intense radiation of the sun, especially ultraviolet rays, low barometric pressure and much higher oxygen content. Indications: Various forms of pulmonary tuberculosis without disturbing the function of the cardiovascular system and significantly restricting the respiratory area of the lungs; Diseases associated with pulmonary tuberculosis: Irritable forms of luteal tuberculosis, tuberculous lymphadenitis and Plevritis with mildly elevated temperature; Tuberculosis of the peripheral lymph nodes without large ducts, chronic bronchitis without severe emphysema, mild forms of bronchial asthma, secondary bleeding. Contraindications: Tuberculosis of the lungs at the stage of decompensation, pulmonary tuberculosis with significant restriction of respiratory area, prone to bleeding.
