A subsidiary of Health and Tourism International Center and an official partner of the Turkish network of clinics "Acibadem" in Georgia, I-Lab Laboratory offers genetic testing to determine if you carry prostate cancer mutated gene.
A safe and comfortable environment awaits you in the ultra-modern laboratory.
You can perform the analysis at your desired time.
Safe and comfortable environment awaits you in the ultra-modern laboratory in Tbilisi - all the protocols prescribed by the Ministry of Health are observed in our facility.
What is the purpose of genetic analysis?
The purpose of genetic testing is to determine if the tumor cell DNA contains a gene mutation or other abnormal changes - any change could be a risk factor for both the development of the disease and the growth of cancer that has already been diagnosed.
A genetic study of lung cancer may identify a curable mutation, or a timely diagnosis of a pathological process that can be managed or completely cured at an early stage - in such clinical cases, the oncologist selects therapeutic therapy that is directly related to the patient's genetic pathology.
According to doctors, lung cancer is detected when cells in the lungs multiply uncontrollably due to a genetic mutation.
When a gene is exposed to toxins in the environment or the cell divides in the wrong way, the risk of mutation increases.
Hereditary lung cancer mutation should be considered - this mutation is passed from parent to child, thus significantly increasing the risk of lung cancer.
The following risk factors contribute significantly to the development of an acquired mutation in lung cancer:
- Tobacco;
- Air pollution;
- Poisoning with radon gas, asbestos and other carcinogens;
- Some metals or chemicals;
- Hormone replacement therapy;
- Lung diseases (tuberculosis, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease).
Genetics
When a parent, sibling or sister has lung cancer, the risk of developing the disease in a person's body is two or three times higher.
However, this is only a risk factor and does not completely mean that because your family member has been diagnosed with it, you will also get cancer.
The reader should be well aware of what a family history of cancer means - this is a significant risk factor that can help prevent the disease with a number of preventive methods. This is why your doctor needs to know if any of your family members have been diagnosed with lung cancer.
What you need to know about lung cancer?
Lung cancer is a malignant tumor whose primary focus is in the lung.
Oncologists explain that lung cancer is the leading cause of death from cancer.
Tobacco use plays a big role in the formation of the disease, however, it should be noted that this type of cancer also affects people who have never had it.
Small cell lung cancer
Small cell lung cancer is often diagnosed in smoking patients - rarely in non-smokers.
Non-small cell lung cancer
This type of cancer combines several forms of lung cancer and includes:
- Squamous cell carcinoma;
- Adenocarcinoma;
- Large cell carcinoma.
Tobacco is a major risk factor for lung cancer. The risk group includes the so-called passive smoker or a person who does not smoke, but inhales the smoke of other people.
Oncologists confirm that lung cancer sometimes develops in nonsmokers or in people who inhale so-called secondary smoke. According to them, the exact cause of cancer in such clinical cases is unknown.
Symptoms of lung cancer
Unfortunately, the disease progresses asymptomatically at an early stage and a person has no idea they are suffering from cancer.
With the progression of lung cancer these symptoms appear:
- Cough;
- Bloody sputum;
- Shortness of breath;
- Pain in the chest;
- Muffled sound;
- Unreasonable, unexplained weight loss;
- Bone pain;
- Headache.
