What is an elimination diet?
Sometimes the foods you love don't respond to your body in the same way and cause unpleasant symptoms. It's not always easy to determine which product is the source of the problem.
Statistically, 20% of the population has a food intolerance or sensitivity.
To determine the cause of your symptoms, your doctor will prescribe an elimination diet.
An elimination diet is the gold standard for diagnosing a food or drink that is causing an allergic reaction. During an elimination diet, you should not eat the suspected, potential product for several weeks. During the diet, you should keep a journal and note what you ate, whether it affected you, etc.
When you do not eat the product that causes sensitivity in the body for several days, the immune system calms down and the inflammatory process in the gastrointestinal tract subsides.
In a large percentage of clinical cases, allergies are caused by:
- Fish;
- Milk;
- Wheat;
- Nuts;
- Almonds;
- Walnuts;
- Soy;
- Peanuts;
- Shellfish;
- Eggs.
