Noise-induced fatigue

Noise-induced fatigue

When people talk about fatigue, they usually mean that caused by physical activity.

However, sometimes the cause of exhaustion is not exercise or other types of activity at all, and the real problem is the noise in the environment.

Harmful noise affects productivity, general health, and alertness. Loud tones threaten hearing first of all. Noise in the environment can quite possibly become a contributing factor to physical and mental exhaustion.

When a person is doing work and there is noise in the background, the brain has to function much more actively and tries to drown out this annoying sound as much as possible - as a result, the person has difficulty concentrating on the task at hand, and becomes irritated.

Noise-induced fatigue is not uncommon in the work environment. Organizational leaders should create a quiet space as much as possible - the employee should concentrate on performing the assigned task, not on suppressing the noise.

Unfortunately, many people can't hide from noise at home - how many times have you been woken up by the sound of a car, neighbors having fun, or the chatter of young people walking on the street?

If possible, buy a window or door that is equipped with soundproofing. The best option is to close the bedroom window, set your mobile phone to vibrate, and turn off electrical appliances.

Some people find that white noise or music that calms the nervous system/relaxes the body helps them fall asleep.

Remember, restful sleep is essential for health. Chronic insomnia is a risk factor for pathologies such as high blood pressure, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and weight gain.
