What is liposuction?
During liposuction, the surgeon removes fat from a specific area of the body. Liposuction can shape any area and this procedure is called body contouring.
Liposuction is not considered a weight loss method. Overweight individuals must lose extra pounds through a healthy diet and physical activity - liposuction is not a substitute for diet or exercise.
Liposuction is recommended for you if you have a stable weight, but have accumulated excess fat in specific areas of the body. With liposuction, fat is removed from an area of the body that is not subject to diet and exercise.
For example, these parts are:
- Abdominal cavity;
- Upper arm area;
- Buttocks;
- Chest and back;
- Hip and thigh;
- Neck and chin;
- Breast (in men, when diagnosed with gynecomastia).
Liposuction cannot correct the appearance of cellulite-covered skin, nor can stretch marks be removed with this procedure.
