A place where the desert meets the ocean

The point of intersection of water and land is in Namibia (South Africa).

The Namibian desert and the Atlantic Ocean meet each other in the Namib Naukluft National Park.

Unbearably dry and drought desert is "cooled" by the cold water of the ocean, therefore, the beach is often covered with fog.

This place (known to travelers as the area where the desert and the ocean meet) is called Sandwich Harbor. Beautiful lagoon has a length of 9 kilometers.

The area was originally described in the 1880s, but for years even many locals knew nothing about it. Rarely do fishermen settle temporarily, seasonally.

Sandwich Harbor today is part of Namib-Naukluft National Park; there is no such coastline anywhere in the world - only the ocean and the endless desert.

Tourists reach Sandwich Harbor from the Namib-Naukluft Protected Area. The world’s oldest desert trip ends at the ocean coast.
