Cottage cheese vaginal discharge

What does cottage cheese vaginal discharge mean?

Cottage cheese vaginal discharge visually resembles this dairy product - it is white, thick. In a large percentage of clinical cases, it is a symptom of a fungal infection.

Cottage cheese vaginal discharge may be accompanied by other symptoms, namely:

• Itching and irritation in the vaginal area;
• Redness and swelling;
• Discomfort and pain during urination or intimate intercourse;
• General discomfort and pain in the vaginal area.

Curd-like discharge is associated with various factors and conditions:

• Hormonal changes;
• Decreased estrogen;
• Improper hygiene, for example, bathing too often or for too long, using soap that disrupts the balance of vaginal flora;
• You wear tight, loose underwear and use perfumed products in the vaginal area;
• Your partner has a yeast infection;
• You have a weak immune system.

Antifungal creams and oral medications are available for treatment.
