Melanoma - Why you should monitor your moles?

Melanoma - Why you should monitor your moles?

Important information about melanoma.

Melanoma is the most aggressive type of skin cancer. It grows quickly and can spread to any organ.

The cure rate is high if diagnosed at an early stage, so take any unusual symptoms on your skin seriously and consult a doctor in a timely manner.

Statistically, melanoma begins in about 30% of cases in moles, but in the remaining percentage it forms in normal skin; this is why skin screening is necessary, because moles alone do not increase the risk.

Unfortunately, the incidence of melanoma has increased dramatically over the past 30 years, and scientists believe that this increase is due to ultraviolet radiation.

Melanoma can manifest itself in the form of moles, scaly patches, open sores, and raised bumps on the skin.

No one is immune to melanoma, but the following are at risk:

  • Personal history of melanoma;
  • Family history of melanoma;
  • Pale/light skin, blond or red hair, blue eyes, freckles;
  • You spend a lot of time in the sun;
  • You have used a tanning bed;
  • You have many moles, especially those of atypical shape;
  • Weak immunity.
