Waistline and Health

Waist circumference is influenced by genetics, lifestyle, and bone/bone size.

A large waist circumference means that you have excess fat stored in your abdomen, which puts you at risk for developing obesity-related conditions.

The risk of type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease is higher if a man has a waist circumference of more than 101 centimeters, while for women, the dangerous mark is 88.9.

Doctors will examine your overall health based on your body mass index, waistline, and the amount of fat stored in your hips, thighs, and buttocks.

Many doctors agree that excess fat in your abdomen is especially dangerous, because obesity increases the risk of damage to internal organs located in this area of the body.

Some scientists believe that waist circumference is greatly influenced by genetic predisposition, namely, it is entirely possible for a person to lose excess weight, but not be able to change the shape and proportions of the body.
