What is otoplasty?
Otoplasty, also known as cosmetic ear surgery, is a procedure in which a surgeon changes the shape and size of the ear.
Otoplasty can be performed at any age (when this organ reaches its full size) and mostly from the age of 5. In some clinical cases, the need for cosmetic surgical manipulation of the ear arises immediately after birth.
Otoplasty is recommended for the following conditions:
- The ears are separated;
- Ears are much larger in proportion to the head;
- You are dissatisfied with the plastic result already performed.
For perfect symmetry, plastic surgery is usually performed on both ears.
Note that otoplasty cannot change the location of the ear or improve hearing.
