The silent killer in your body.

High blood pressure (hypertension in the medical language) really justifies the nickname - yes, it progresses silently, secretly, asymptomatically and becomes the provoking of life-threatening pathologies.

When the pressure is too high, a person may feel some discomfort and symptoms (severe headache, blurred vision, chest pain, etc.), however, in a large percentage of clinical cases, it occurs without any warning signs. That is why it is necessary to check the blood pressure regularly.

Risk factors for hypertension are:

  • Old age;
  • Genetics;
  • Overweight or obesity;
  • Inactive lifestyle;
  • Excessive salt in the diet;
  • Excessive alcohol.

Sometimes even a healthy lifestyle is enough to regulate blood pressure numbers, but sometimes drug therapy is necessary.

Here are some interesting facts about high blood pressure:

  • Worldwide, more than 1 billion people between the ages of 30 and 79 have hypertension;
  • Approximately 46% of adults with hypertension have no idea that they have high blood pressure;
  • Less than half of adults with hypertension have their blood pressure diagnosed and treated;
  • One out of every 5 adults with hypertension controls their blood pressure;
  • Worldwide, hypertension is the leading cause of premature death.
