What is fungal keratitis?

Fungal keratitis is a condition in which the cornea is damaged, the epithelial layer is broken, and a fungal infection of the tissue or cell layer of the cornea is fixed.

Fungal keratitis is an infection of the cornea.

Timely treatment of corneal ulcer is necessary, because the disease causes serious problems - in untreated clinical cases, the risk of vision loss increases.

The following symptoms are characteristic of the infection:

  • Eye pain
  • Blurred vision;
  • Eye redness;
  • Increased sensitivity to light;
  • Strong tearing;
  • Discharge

Fungal keratitis usually occurs against the background of an injury to the eye, often a foreign body.

Antifungal antibiotic therapy is provided for treatment.

To prevent fungal keratitis, it is recommended to wear safety glasses while working in the garden. You should also take care of personal hygiene, for example, keep contact lenses and others in appropriate conditions.
