Do you have nomophobia?
If you're afraid of losing your phone, find it difficult to be away from your smartphone for long periods of time, or feel stressed that you won't be able to access the service for several hours, you probably have nomophobia.
So far, nomophobia is not classified as an official mental health condition, although scientists agree that the phone does have an effect on psychological mood.
Symptoms of nomophobia are particularly common among young adults, although many cell phone owners will experience symptoms in varying degrees.
Symptoms can be managed with treatment and lifestyle changes. If nomophobia seriously lowers your quality of life, you should consult a specialist.
These methods may help you manage mild addiction:
- Turn off your mobile phone at night for peaceful sleep. If you can't turn it off because of the alarm clock, leave your mobile phone far from the bed (in this case, you won't be able to access it easily before going to bed or when you wake up);
- Leave the mobile phone at home for a while (for example, while walking or buying products);
- Every day, spend a certain hour away from modern technologies - during this time, you should engage in an activity that will not be related to a mobile phone or a computer;
- Through social networks, we know everything about our relatives and friends - maybe we haven't seen a person for several years, but we even know his dinner menu by heart in the background of photo/video material (which he uploads). Invite your friends, family members or loved ones to spend some time away from the mobile phone, talk, plan for the future, remember the beautiful days of the past.
