How to recognize sensory integration disorder?

Children with sensory integration (processing) disorders have problems with feeling. Sensation includes: touch, movement, taste, smell, sight, hearing.

Because of the diagnosis, it is difficult for them to respond correctly to the information.

In a large percentage of clinical cases, children with sensory integration disorders have one or more sensations that are either exaggerated or unusually slow to respond to stimuli.

This disorder causes problems in the development and formation of behavior.

Children with autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder may have symptoms of sensory integration disorder. This disorder may also be associated with other conditions, such as premature birth, brain injury, learning problems.
