Ear pain is a common complaint and is especially common in children.
In a large percentage of clinical cases, it is caused by an ear infection.
Other possible causes:
- Traveling by plane (change in air pressure);
- Foreign body in the ear;
- Trauma in the ear;
- Sulfur plug.
Ear pain may stem from other problems in the body:
- Sinusitis or tonsillitis;
- Problem in the jaw joint;
- Tooth, dental problem.
Consult a doctor for the following symptoms:
- Ear pain became chronic or the symptom worsened;
- Discharge from the ear;
- Fever or general weakness;
- You have hearing loss;
- History of diabetes or weak immunity;
- A child under 2 years old suffers from ear pain.
The course of treatment depends on the underlying cause.
The following methods may help to ease the discomfort:
- Put a warm cloth on the ear;
- Take a painkiller;
- Put your head on 2 pillows and sleep like that, relax.
