If you complain of numbness, itching and feeling as if something is crawling on your skin for no reason

The diagnosis is paresthesia.

Paresthesia is a spontaneously developed sensation. During this diagnosis, for no reason at all, a person feels as if something is crawling on the skin, complains of numbness or itching.

Everyone has experienced paresthesia at least once in their life.

The most common cause is that you irritate the nerve due to carelessness, although the discomfort will disappear as soon as you change your posture. This type of paresthesia is temporary, but if you experience this sensation chronically, it is likely due to another medical condition.

Paresthesia can develop in any part of the body, but the most common are:

  • In the legs;
  • In the ankle;
  • In the hands;
  • In the shoulder area.

Paresthesia may be temporary or chronic.

It is characterized by the following symptoms:

  • Numbness;
  • Weakness;
  • Tingling sensation;
  • Burning sensation;
  • Coldness.

Be sure to consult a doctor if the symptoms have become chronic and your quality of life has decreased due to discomfort.

It is not always possible to identify the underlying cause. The cause of temporary paresthesia is pressure on the nerve, i.e. poor blood circulation. Chronic paresthesia is formed against the background of nerve damage.
