When the heart is no longer supplied with blood, a heart attack occurs.
The process of normal blood flow may be interrupted due to a number of factors - as a result of the accumulation of fat, cholesterol and other substances, plaque is formed in the coronary arteries.
At the first signs of a heart attack, call an emergency ambulance! Remember, this is a dangerous pathology and the patient should be immediately admitted to the emergency department.
In some clinical cases, the signs of a heart attack develop suddenly and are intense, although sometimes they begin slowly and are manifested by weak pain or discomfort.
Listen to your body, watch for unusual symptoms, and call an emergency room if you notice the following:
- Pain in the chest;
- Discomfort in another area of the upper body (pain or discomfort in one or both arms, back, neck, jaw, or stomach);
- Shortness of breath;
- Other signs may also appear, for example, cold sweat, nausea, a feeling of heart failure.
It is worth noting that the symptoms are different in men and women, for example, chest pain is common, but female patients may develop other symptoms that are less typical of a heart attack (shortness of breath, nausea/vomiting, and back or jaw pain).
