How to protect the brain from injury?
The cause of traumatic brain damage is mechanical impact on the head (hit, fall, sports injury, accident, etc.).
If the injury is mild, the brain cells are temporarily damaged, while in case of a serious, severe injury, dangerous symptoms develop (hemorrhage, laceration of tissues, bleeding, other physical damage to the brain). Unfortunately, sometimes the trauma is so severe that it becomes impossible to save the patient.
During a traumatic brain injury, the patient suffers from both physical and mental symptoms.
Certain methods can minimize the risk of brain damage.
Recommended:
- Use a seat belt, a helmet;
- When traveling by car, the child must be placed in a special seat;
- It is not allowed to drive a car while drunk;
- Do not drive a car if you are taking such medication that will prevent you from driving adequately;
- It is not allowed to check the mobile phone while driving;
- We also ask pedestrians to pay attention - do not read the messages when crossing theroad, etc.;
- Elderly people should avoid falling by certain methods (it is preferable to have handrails at home, put an anti-slip carpet in the bathroom, there should be enough light in the rooms for good visibility, regularly consult a doctor to check the ability of vision, be physically active as much as possible, i.e. tighten the muscles);
- Keep children safe, avoid head injuries (you should have some sort of gate/guard at the end of the stairs, don't stack things on the steps, wrap windows and balconies with protective film, the little one should have fun in a safe playground, etc.).
