What is meteorism?
Meteorism is a pathology of the gastrointestinal tract.
During the disease, excess gas accumulates in the stomach and intestines. Flatulence may be localized or generalized.
The disease appears due to 3 main reasons, namely:
- When a person eats quickly and swallows air while eating;
- Formation of a large amount of gases during fermentation;
- Against the background of decreased gas reabsorption in various pathologies, for example, liver cirrhosis.
Notable symptoms are:
- Bloated tummy;
- Discomfort in the abdomen;
- Excess release of accumulated gases;
- A kind of rumbling in the stomach;
- Belching
- Nausea
