What is meteorism?

Meteorism is a pathology of the gastrointestinal tract.

During the disease, excess gas accumulates in the stomach and intestines. Flatulence may be localized or generalized.

The disease appears due to 3 main reasons, namely:

  •  When a person eats quickly and swallows air while eating;
  •  Formation of a large amount of gases during fermentation;
  •  Against the background of decreased gas reabsorption in various pathologies, for example, liver cirrhosis.

Notable symptoms are:

  •  Bloated tummy;
  •  Discomfort in the abdomen;
  •  Excess release of accumulated gases;
  •  A kind of rumbling in the stomach;
  •  Belching
  •  Nausea
