What causes night sweats?
This discomfort has been experienced by almost all people at least once in their lives.
If the cause of sweating is environmental factors, such as a warm nightgown, a bad dream, a high temperature in the bedroom, etc., there is nothing dangerous. However, in some clinical cases, night sweats are a symptom of a number of pathological processes or conditions.
If the discomfort has become chronic, it is recommended to consult a doctor in time.
Possible causes of night sweats are:
- Drinking alcohol before bedtime
- You feel stressed or anxious
- The medications you're taking
- You're going through menopause (or you're about to)
- You have a sweating disorder - hyperhidrosis
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Depression
- Heart disease
- Hyperthyroidism (also known as an overactive thyroid)
- Obesity
- Tuberculosis
- Endocarditis
- Obstructive sleep apnea
