Gastritis is an inflammation of the lining of the stomach.
If the mucous membrane barrier is damaged or weakened, digestive juices can damage the stomach lining, thereby significantly increasing the risk of inflammation.
Gastritis develops due to a number of diseases or conditions, for example, these risk factors are: bacterial infection, regular use of painkillers, old age, alcohol overdose, stress, autoimmune gastritis, iron deficiency disease, parasitic infection and others.
Lifestyle and home remedies
You may find some relief from signs and symptoms if you:
- Eat smaller, more-frequent meals.
- Avoid irritating foods. Avoid foods that irritate your stomach, especially those that are spicy, acidic, fried or fatty.
- Avoid alcohol.
- Consider switching pain relievers. If you use pain relievers that increase your risk of gastritis, ask your doctor whether acetaminophen (Tylenol, others) may be an option for you. This medication is less likely to aggravate your stomach problem.
