What is Paris Syndrome?
A visit to the French capital is a dream of many, however, some tourists develop the syndrome of Paris due to unpleasant experiences after a walk in the city of love. In this case, the beauty of Paris is overshadowed by the negative sides of the city and, in fact, the traveler is left disappointed.
The cause of the syndrome may be some polluted streets, endless queues near museums, homeless people living in front of metro stations and more.
It should be noted that some tourists do not experience only discomfort and may even show symptoms characteristic of psychiatric distress.
These symptoms are:
- Panic attack;
- Increased heart rate;
- Dizziness;
- Hallucinations;
- Aggressive behavior.
As a rule, Japanese tourists suffer the most from the Paris syndrome.
According to some scholars, Paris Syndrome is an extreme form of culture shock.
