Capillary Disease

Capillary Disease

What is coronary artery disease?

Coronary artery disease affects the tiny blood vessels in the heart and causes chest pain. When the inner walls of these small blood vessels are damaged, the patient feels a spasm and at the same time the normal blood circulation process is disrupted.

Statistically, coronary artery disease is more common in women than in men.

Risk factors include:

  • Unhealthy cholesterol levels;
  • High blood pressure;
  • Smoking;
  • Diabetes;
  • Being overweight or obese;
  • Inactive lifestyle;
  • Eating an unhealthy diet;
  • Age.

Typical symptoms include:

  • Shortness of breath;
  • Sleep problems;
  • Fatigue;
  • Lack of energy;
  • Chest pain.

The main goal of coronary artery disease treatment is to relieve pain. The goal of treatment may be to control risk factors and other symptoms.
