Androgenic Alopecia - Hair Loss in Men

Androgenic Alopecia - Hair Loss in Men

What is Androgenic Alopecia?

Androgenic Alopecia is a common form of hair loss and is common in men.

Most men notice hair loss/thinning (early stage) from the age of 30, although some men develop it even in their late teens.

Treatment options include drug therapy, hair transplantation, and other methods.

You are at risk for androgenetic alopecia if male pattern hair loss runs in your family, for example, a grandfather, father, or brother has signs of baldness.

Factors to consider include:

  • Age (25% of men first notice hair loss before the age of 21, 50% in those over 50, and 70% lose their hair completely with age);
  • Hormones;
  • Genetics.

Unfortunately, scientists don't know how to prevent baldness.
