What is cardiometabolic disease?

Cardiometabolic disease includes the following pathologies: infarction (heart attack), stroke, diabetes, kidney disease, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

Risk factors that contribute to cardiometabolic disease are:

  • High blood pressure;
  • High blood sugar levels;
  • High triglycerides;
  • Excess body fat around the waist;
  • Low levels of good cholesterol in the blood;
  • Smoking;
  • Obesity;
  • Genetic predisposition;
  • Excessive alcohol consumption;
  • High stress levels;
  • An unhealthy diet.

Symptoms to watch for include:

  • Inflammation;
  • Insulin resistance;
  • Impaired glucose tolerance;
  • Chest pain;
  • Any changes in urination;
