What is osteonecrosis?
Osteonecrosis is a diagnosis that implies that the bone receives much less blood and oxygen than it needs to function, therefore, if treatment is not started in time, collapse and fracture are expected.
The condition mainly affects the hip bone and knee joint. As a rule, it causes pain, stiffness and progressive loss of mobility.
Magnetic resonance imaging or X-rays are prescribed for diagnosis.

If osteonecrosis is diagnosed when the damage is only in a small area of the bone, drug therapy is prescribed.

Total joint replacement surgery is required in clinical cases where bone collapse has begun due to osteonecrosis, and the patient is therefore experiencing severe pain.
