Unexplained infertility

Unexplained infertility

What is unexplained infertility?

This is a diagnosis that means that a person or couple has undergone fertility testing, but the diagnostic tests have not shown a cause.

Treatment options include:

• Fertility drugs;
• Lifestyle changes;
• Intrauterine insemination;
• In vitro fertilization.

Studies conducted in unexplained infertility show that:

• There are no pathological or structural changes in the uterus;
• Ovulation occurs at regular intervals;
• The fallopian tubes are open;
• The number of eggs is normal;
• The brain produces hormones necessary for reproduction in normal amounts;
• The partner's sperm analysis is normal.

Unexplained infertility is diagnosed in the following situations:

• You are under 35 years old and have been trying to conceive for at least one year;
• You are over 35 years old and have been trying to conceive for 6 months.

According to one statistic, unexplained infertility affects more than 30% of couples.

Keep in mind that a diagnosis of unexplained infertility does not mean that you are incapable of having children - many women with this diagnosis have become pregnant with appropriate treatment.
