Biliary colic

Biliary colic

What is a biliary colic?

A biliary colic is a periodic pain in the abdomen that comes from the biliary tract.

The patient complains of pain in the right lower abdomen or right arm.

The pain characteristic of gallstones can be episodic, constant or acute.

The pain may be accompanied by the following symptoms:

  • Nausea and vomiting;
  • Abdominal tenderness;
  • Sweating.

In a large percentage of clinical cases, gallstones occur after eating - especially if you have eaten a large portion or fatty dishes.

An episode of gallstones can last from 20 minutes to several hours. This diagnosis is characterized by pain that occurs for a short time, and if the discomfort lasts for a long time, the cause is likely to be more serious.

A gallstone is a sign that there is a problem in the body and needs treatment. Yes, a gallstone is temporary, but the condition that causes it can worsen. Therefore, it can easily turn into an emergency situation.
