Chalazion - How to treat a pimple on the eyelid?

If you notice a lump or bump on your eyelid, it is a swollen and painless lump on the eyelid.

The eyelid has a tiny gland that produces an oily substance to moisturize the eye. When one of these glands becomes blocked, a chalazion develops.

In a large percentage of clinical cases, it is treated at home. It usually disappears in a month or less.

It is not allowed to squeeze a chalazion - with manual mechanical irritation, the risk of inflammation and infection increases significantly. It is recommended to soak a clean cloth in warm water and apply it to the affected eye for 15 minutes. Repeat this procedure at least three times a day to open the blocked sebaceous glands.

Do not use eye cosmetics while you have a chalazion.

Do not touch your eyes frequently, especially when your hands are not washed with soap and water.

If a chalazion does not heal with home treatment or if the condition becomes chronic, you should see a doctor.

The following types of procedures will be performed at the clinic:

• The doctor will examine your general health and medical history;

• Examine the eye, eyelid, eyelashes, and skin texture;

• Assess the condition of the eyelid, the level of gland blockage, etc.

Drainage of the fluid will be performed. Steroid injections may also be necessary to reduce swelling and inflammation.
