Such “dead” cells as hair and nails do not use a direct blood supply, although there is another living cell in our body that functions on the same principle.
The only living cell that does not have a direct connection with blood vessels is the cornea of the eye. Since it does not have blood vessels, it absorbs oxygen and other nutrients at the expense of intraocular fluid.
The following parts of the body do not have blood vessels:
- Cornea;
- Hair;
- Nails;
- Tooth enamel;
- The outer layer of the skin.
