Foot pain - what symptoms should you see a doctor about?

Foot pain is a common complaint.

You may experience a mild cramp or a burning, stabbing pain.

Causes of foot pain include:

• Muscle spasm;
• Trauma;
• Circulatory problems;
• Nerve problems;
• Electrolyte imbalance;
• Arthritis;
• Restless legs syndrome;
• Gout.

Be sure to see a doctor if you have any of the following symptoms:

• Your foot is red, swollen, black, or blue;
• The leg is cold and pale;
• The pain is worse with physical activity and the discomfort is relieved with rest;
• The pain has not been relieved by home treatment;
