Scalp Fungal Infection

Scalp Fungal Infection

What are the symptoms of a scalp fungal infection?

A fungal infection of the scalp is caused by a fungus called Candida. The infection causes itching, rash, and flaking - the skin is usually irritated and flaky.

Candida loves warm and moist spaces, so this type of environment should not be created for it.

To prevent a scalp fungal infection, it is necessary to properly maintain personal hygiene and keep the scalp clean and dry.

Scalp infections are especially common in the following categories:

  • Pregnant women;
  • Treatment with antibiotics;
  • Chemotherapy;
  • Unhealthy diet;
  • Stress;
  • A history of weak immunity.

The first sign of a scalp fungal infection is a pink or red rash - the bumps come in various sizes and shapes, and flaking is expected.

You may also notice the following symptoms:

  • White flakes;
  • Thick white or yellow oily patches;
  • Soft, moist areas in some areas;
  • White and red, pus-filled bumps.

Usually, a fungal infection of the scalp is not contagious. However, if you have a weak immune system, it is advisable to avoid contact with someone who has a fungal infection. People with weak immune systems are at higher risk of infection.
