What causes bleeding from the ear?

This is a condition where there is blood in the ear or blood flows from the ear. It is a symptom of a number of injuries and conditions.

Bleeding from the ear itself does not cause complications, although the pathology that causes this complaint can aggravate the condition. The course of treatment depends on the cause.

If the bleeding has developed due to a blow to the head or injury, call an emergency ambulance.

The patient should be immediately admitted to the emergency department of the clinic if the following symptoms occur:

• Dizziness;
• Nosebleeds;
• Nausea or vomiting;
• Vision problems;
• Confusion or loss of consciousness;
• Hearing loss.

Depending on the cause, it is quite possible that bleeding from the ear will be accompanied by other symptoms, including:

• Earache;
• Fever;
• Hearing loss;
• Facial paralysis;
• Dizziness;
• Ringing in the ears.

Bleeding from the ear may be caused by:

• Trauma or injury;
• Rupture of the eardrum;
• Acute ear infection;
• Foreign body in the ear;
• Ear cancer.
