What is internal bleeding?
Internal bleeding occurs inside the body, in the body, for example, in the stomach or brain. As a rule, in a large percentage of clinical cases, the cause is trauma.
In itself, external damage to the body is visible, and bleeding or other symptoms are noticed by both patients and those around them. However, internal bleeding can occur with such minor symptoms that only a doctor can detect it with appropriate physical examination or diagnostic studies.
It is also worth considering that sometimes internal bleeding occurs with non-traumatic injuries, for example, the patient has not received physical trauma, therefore, he will not even realize whether he is dealing with gastritis, organ damage, or any other disorder that is accompanied by bleeding.
Internal bleeding should be suspected if the following symptoms suddenly appear:
- Dizziness;
- Severe weakness;
- Loss of consciousness;
- Low blood pressure;
- Severe vision problems;
- Numbness;
- Weakness in one area of the body;
- Severe headache;
- Severe abdominal pain;
- Shortness of breath;
- Chest pain;
- Nausea;
- Vomiting;
- Diarrhea.
You may notice blood or mucus in your urine or stool. Also, if you suspect internal bleeding around the navel or in your sides, you should immediately report it.
Internal bleeding is always caused by an injury, disease, or condition, so it doesn't happen on its own.
