Numbness and tingling sensation in the legs (paresthesia in medical language) is a common complaint.
This symptom appears for a number of reasons - sometimes it is due to such a daily, routine factor as sitting/standing for a long time in the same position, and in some clinical cases it is an indication of a serious disease (for example, chronic pathologies, neurological trauma, etc.).
Consult a doctor for the following symptoms:
- Appears often and lasts for a long time;
- Accompanied by new or unusual symptoms;
- Accompanied by such signs as a change in temperature, color or shape of the foot;
- Rash, dizziness, muscle spasm;
- You can’t relate anything to the leg numbness.
Call 911 immediately if:
- Numbness started suddenly;
- You received an injury in the back, head or neck area;
- You have difficulty moving or walking;
- You cannot control the action of urine and stomach;
- Confusion;
- Loss of consciousness;
- Vision problems;
- Slurred speech.
