Cherophobia - fear of happiness

Cherophobia - fear of happiness

What is chorophobia?

Cherophobia is a phobia in which a person is afraid of happiness, fun. This fear is so strong that a person consciously avoids places where fun is guaranteed.

According to some psychologists, chorophobia is a form of anxiety disorder.

You may be surprised, but a person with chorophobia is not necessarily a sad person, but rather a person who avoids cheerful spaces.

The following symptoms are characteristic of this type of phobia:

  • Anxiety begins even at the thought of a party, concert or similar entertainment event;
  • Denies positive events in life because he is afraid that good news will be followed by bad news;
  • Refuses to engage in activities that are considered fun;
  • He is afraid not to become a bad person because of happiness.
  • It is embarrassing to show others that I am happy;
  • Trying to be happy is a waste of time.

Often the cause of chorophobia is an internal fear - have you ever met a person who thinks that happiness should be hidden and joy can be replaced by bad news?

This phobia is quite possible to be formed in the background of a physical or emotional traumatic event in the past.

The diagnosis is common among introverts and perfectionists.
