What are the symptoms of second degree burns?
It ranges from mild to moderate and is the most common type of burn.
In second degree burns, the epidermis (outer layer of skin) and dermis (second layer of skin) are damaged. In a large percentage of clinical cases, this type of burn can be managed at home.
The following symptoms are characteristic:
The skin acquires a red or dark brown color;
- As if the skin is shining;
- Warts
- Pain and discomfort;
- Swelling;
- Exfoliation of skin layers.
Most often, second degree burns are received in the following area:
- Limbs;
- Face;
- Mouth
The cause may be:
- Hot object;
- Sunburn;
- Boiled water;
- Steam;
- Flame;
- Some chemicals;
- Electric shock.
The risk of scarring is high if the burn is severe and covers a large area of the body.
Note that it is normal if the burned area is lighter or darker than the natural skin tone.
Each organism is individual and the size and location of the burn on the body is important, although statistically, second degree burns heal within a week to 3 weeks
