What causes eyelash loss?
The eyelash is not just a cosmetic supplement and actually performs a protective function, in particular, it protects the eye from foreign bodies (any foreign body or substance becomes the cause of infection, vision damage or injury).
Keep in mind, every 6-10 weeks a new eyelash grows, the old one falls out and is renewed - this is a completely natural cycle. Yes, it is completely normal to lose one to five eyelashes every day. However, if the number is frequent, it is already a sign of a health problem.
The cause of madarosis (this is a medical term that explains the absence of eyelashes) may be either an eye disease or some other pathology of the body.
The reason for frequent loss of eyelashes may be:
- Reaction, irritation to cosmetic products;
- Blepharitis;
- Trichotillomania;
- Skin cancer;
- Ocular rosacea;
- Bacterial or fungal infection;
- Tick.
A person has a systemic health problem if hair loss is fixed from eyelashes, eyebrows and scalp.
