Prevention methods.
Bleeding from the nose is medically called epistaxis - it is common in children and the elderly.
Visually, it looks terrifying for people with non-medical education, however, in a large percentage of clinical cases, it is an insignificant discomfort, that is, it is not a symptom of a dangerous pathology.
The exposed surface of the nose consists of many tiny blood vessels - the blood vessels near the surface are easily damaged and irritated.
The most common causes of nosebleeds are dry air, finger irritation, allergies and trauma.
You should consult a doctor if:
- You often have epistaxis;
- Notice the symptoms of anemia;
- The patient is a child under 2 years old;
- You are taking blood-thinning medications;
- You have a blood clotting problem and the bleeding does not stop;
- You drink a new medicine and you think that nosebleeds are a side effect of the medicine;
- Notice unusual bruising along with nosebleeds.
For prevention, it is recommended:
- Moisten the nose;
- Use an air humidifier in the bedroom at night;
- Sneeze with your mouth open;
- Do not blow your nose often and forcefully;
- Nothing works in the nasal cavity, neither a finger nor any other foreign body;
- If you blame your nosebleeds on medication, tell your doctor about the side effect of the medication;
- You should consult a doctor if you cannot control the symptoms of nasal allergy;
- You should give up tobacco;
- Be sure to wear protective equipment if you have to do such activities, due to which there is a high risk of facial and nose injuries;
- Clip the child's nails.
