What is heatstroke?
Heat stroke occurs when the body is overheated - usually as a result of high air temperatures, prolonged exposure to the sun, or physical activity in the heart of the sun.
The diagnosis of heat stroke is common in summer.
It is an emergency condition, that is, it requires urgent medical intervention, because the risk of brain, heart, kidney and muscle damage increases significantly if left untreated. In order to prevent serious complications and fatal outcome, it is necessary to place the patient in the emergency department of the clinic at the first symptoms.
The following signs are characteristic:
- High body temperature (temperature of 40 degrees or more);
- Confusion, irritability, agitation, seizure, coma, hallucinations, slurred speech;
- Sweating;
- Nausea and vomiting;
- Reddened skin;
- Rapid breathing;
- Accelerated heartbeat;
- Headache.
If you suspect that a person has heat stroke, call an emergency ambulance. Before waiting for the emergency team, try to carefully move the patient to the shade or indoors, remove excess clothing and cool the body as much as possible (cool shower, ventilation, wet cloth, cold water spray, etc.).
