What does soft tissue injury mean?
Soft tissue injuries include swelling and bruising, muscle tears, or straining of ligaments or tendons near the joint.
The course of treatment includes three stages:
- During the first 24-72 hours, it is necessary to protect the damaged area, diagnose and select the appropriate course;
- Reduction of swelling and tension, restoration of normal movement ability;

Protection
In order to protect the damaged tissue, you should not load, move the limb, it is not allowed to stretch. A crutch may be required.
Rest
The patient should relax, not move.
Ice
Apply ice wrapped in cloth for 15-20 minutes every 3-4 hours.
Compression
Wrap the joint with a bandage - you should not hold the fabric.
Prevention of edema
Raise the limb above the level of the heart, you can also use it as a pillow.
