What is a brain abscess?

A brain abscess is pus formed as a result of trauma or infection - a serious and potentially life-threatening condition.

The following symptoms are characteristic of the pathology:

  • Headache;
  • Heat
  • Attack;
  • Nausea and vomiting.

In 65% of clinical cases, certain types of changes in mental status are expressed:

  • Confusion;
  • Drowsiness and relaxation;
  • Irritation;
  • Ability to concentrate is impaired;
  • The reaction is slowed down;
  • Decrease in the ability to think;
  • Coma.

During the diagnosis of brain abscess, neurological complications are noted in 50-65% of cases. Signs of neurological disorders are accompanied by headache and develop over several days or weeks.

May reveal:

  • Muscle weakness;
  • Weakness or paralysis in one part of the body;
  • Problems related to speech;
  • Poor coordination.

A brain abscess is formed due to infection, brain tissue damage, pressure.

If the headache suddenly worsens, it is likely that the abscess has burst.
