A soft tissue injury is an injury or overuse to a muscle, tendon, or ligament.
In a large percentage of clinical cases, the cause is a sudden, uncontrolled movement, such as rolling an ankle. Sometimes it is formed against the background of excessive physical activity, body overload, chronic fatigue.
Symptoms
In case of soft tissue damage, pain and swelling appear. As a result of injury, a strain is formed.
Bleeding is expected within 24-48 hours.
The recovery process depends on the degree of injury, for example:
- In the case of a first-degree injury, the rehabilitation process includes one or 2 weeks;
- Second degree trauma requires 3 or 4 weeks;
- In the case of the third degree, a much longer period is required.
The rehabilitation process depends on the patient's age, general state of health and level of injury.
During the first 48-72 hours, it is not allowed:
- Artificially cause heat in the damaged area (swelling will form as a result);
- Take alcohol (alcoholic drink will slow down the recovery process, accelerate swelling);
- Massage (you will aggravate the injured area more, you will cause much more damage).
