How to recognize an infected wound, which symptom to pay attention to?
During an infected wound, the patient's general condition worsens, the symptoms worsen - this is the condition that indicates that the wound is getting complicated. For example, if the pain, swelling, redness did not go away and the symptoms worsened, you are dealing with an infection. In case of infection, patients often notice redness around the wound.
During wound infection, other symptoms appear:
- Heat will be felt on the skin around the wound;
- Yellow or green discharge from the wound;
- The wound has an unpleasant smell;
- Red stripes, lines appear on the skin around the wound;
- Fever and chills;
- Pain;
- Nausea and vomiting.
Consult a doctor immediately if you have a wound and notice the following symptoms:
- The wound is deep and large;
- Signs of infection were detected;
- It is difficult for you to treat and clean the wound, for example, you cannot remove debris, grass, sand or any other foreign body;
- The wound was formed due to a bite from a dirty or rusty object;
- You cannot stop the bleeding.
