What causes unintentional weight gain?

Unintentional weight gain is a condition when a person does not eat much, that is, he has not changed the calories or portions in the diet, nor has he reduced the level of physical activity, but the extra pounds are still on his face.

Unintentional weight gain may be intermittent or chronic.

Common reasons are:

  • Pregnancy;
  • Hormonal changes;
  • Menstruation;
  • Fluid retention;
  • Side effect of medication.

Symptoms vary depending on the underlying cause. Some people may experience abdominal discomfort, pain or bloating. It is quite possible to notice a kind of swelling in the abdomen, legs, hands.
