What is hyperhydration?
As you know, water is good for health, but a larger than recommended dose has harmful consequences.
Hyperhydration is formed for 2 reasons:
- You drink a lot of water;
- The kidney cannot expel the required amount of water from the body.
In both cases, due to hyperhydration, useful water becomes toxic, that is, water poisoning occurs. Against the background of hyperhydration, an imbalance of electrolytes is formed, which in itself causes unpleasant symptoms and reactions.
It is worth noting that a person does not notice symptoms at the initial stage, although urine is the best indicator - for example, pale yellow urine is excreted from the body of a practically healthy person, dark color indicates to drink water, and colorless is a sign of excess water content.
Symptoms of hyperhydration are:
- Nausea and vomiting;
- Headache;
- Confusion or disorientation;
- Drowsiness;
- Muscle spasm.
