What is a bacterial infection?
A bacterial infection is a disease that affects the skin, lungs, brain, blood, and other organs of the body.
In a large percentage of clinical cases, the infection is treated with antibiotics (it is not allowed to take antibiotics arbitrarily).
A bacterial infection is caused by bacteria or toxins.
Bacteria can enter the body from the environment, from the body of an infected person or animal, through an insect bite, through contaminated food or water.
Types of bacterial infection are:
- Gastroenteritis;
- Skin, ear or sinus infection;
- Sexually transmitted infections;
- Bacterial pneumonia;
- Urinary tract infection.
Some bacterial infections are not serious or can be easily treated with antibiotics, however, life-threatening complications are formed in clinical cases when the infection penetrates deep into the body (blood, heart, brain, lungs). Therefore, it is recommended to consult a doctor in time to avoid any possible complications.
The high risk group of infection is:
- People with diabetes;
- People with weak immune system;
- Open wound in the anamnesis;
- Postponed surgical operation.
