Prevention methods.
A stroke, also called a cerebral infarction, is an acute interruption of blood flow to the brain.
The pathology is formed when the blood supply to the brain area is interrupted, broken or reduced. Against the background of a chain reaction, the brain tissue can no longer be supplied with oxygen and nutrients necessary for health, therefore, the cells die in a few minutes.
A stroke requires urgent help, even if the symptoms characteristic of a brain infarction have subsided. The patient should be immediately placed in the emergency department of the clinic - during a stroke, every second is crucial.
Prevention of stroke, minimizing the risk of development of pathology is really possible. By developing a healthy lifestyle and a certain regimen, you can protect yourself from stroke, regardless of age or family history.
For prevention, it is recommended:
- Control blood pressure, in case of high blood pressure consult a doctor in time and adjust it. Remember, hypertension (high blood pressure) is one of the main risk factors for stroke;
- Obesity is harmful - lose extra kilos or, if you have a healthy weight, take care to maintain it;
- Exercise, be physically active as much as possible;
- Do not take large amounts of alcohol;
- If you have an irregular heartbeat in the anamnesis, it is necessary to take into account all the recommendations of the attending physician and adjust the rhythm;
- Diabetics should monitor their blood sugar levels. Remember that high blood sugar levels damage blood vessels over time;
