What is scalp psoriasis?
Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory condition.
The process may be manifested both on the skin and on individual organ systems.
As a rule, it is most often formed on the scalp, and as a result, a person suffers from itching, bulging and scaly plaques appear.
During psoriasis, both the entire scalp may be damaged, and a separate area may be covered with plaque. Psoriasis may spread to the ears, neck, forehead.
The diagnosis is common in adults, although children are not immune either.
The following symptoms are characteristic of scalp psoriasis:
- Dry, peeling skin;
- Strong itching;
- Burning sensation or other type of pain;
- Temporary hair loss in the affected area.
Due to itching, a person scratches the scalp, and this in turn significantly increases the risk of nfection or bleeding.
Scalp psoriasis is characterized by periodic exacerbations, however, with appropriate treatment, symptoms can be controlled.
